Veterans Day is usually not a somber day, but given the circumstances, we felt it appropriate to use the attention from today to raise awareness for our brother Chad’s family, who passed away last week due to service related cancer.
Chad was a man who dedicated his entire adult life to serving his community. He served 4 years in the Marine Corps, 5 years with Lufkin PD, and 15 years as a Texas State Trooper.
Chad battled with cancer for years, and fought hard being the warrior he is. You wouldn’t know it unless he told you, because his apparent attitude towards life was so positive.
I don’t want to pretend that I knew Chad on a very deep level, but I knew him well enough from the several interactions we had to see very obviously how much of a loving husband and father he was, along with being a staple of inspiration towards his community. A man of true devotion and service.
As previously stated, Chad’s cancer was service related, and from what I’ve been told wasn’t proven or recognized with the VA until 1 month before he passed. He gave everything and sacrificed his own health to serve our country, and then continued serving his local community for the rest of his life. He officially retired 2 months before he passed.
On behalf of an individual that has given his all to the American people he served, that leaves behind a family who now must navigate the void of a man like Chad’s presence, we feel it is our duty to step up for his family to ease the financial stress that inevitably comes from a loss like this, and make that the last thing they have to worry about.
If you are a fellow vet, or an appreciative American, we ask that you donate what you can for this selfless man’s family.
Chad is survived by his wife and two teenage sons. We pray for them during this trying time, that they be comforted by the almighty.
All funds will be delivered to Chad’s wife, Jill Wilson.
