Serial fraud takes all from disabled #HelpHannahJ

I am doing this on behalf of Jacqueline, Jon and Hannah. This story is actually huge, so to get the full scale of this problem evident I need to be succinct.

 

They moved from Sussex to Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. Took a rental in May from Mr. L (keeping this anonymous for legal reasons). Mr. L explained he was the landlord. He took payment upfront for rent, dog bond, and various other costs. They moved into the house on the understanding they could install a stair lift because two of them cannot manage stairs. A short while later, he told them they needed to vacate the house for a few days due to a reported gas leak, that they should stay in a hotel and he would reimburse them.

 

What actually happened was the real landlord wanted to see the property she had let to Mr. L, and he had got the tenants he sub-let to to vacate the house and claimed all the possessions in there were his.

 

The family were unaware of his deception at this time and Mr. L. continued to harass them for more payments claiming financial complications with the house and threatening having to sell it.

 

In the last week, the truth came to light, that he has illegally sub-let the property, defrauded the family of a total of £8,476, not paid the rent on the house he sub-let to them, and left them facing constant stress and fear of being homeless.

 

Unfortunately, this wasn't even the beginning for Mr. L. I am one of the first landlords he took advantage of, moving into my house on a fraudulent tenancy application, paying one month's rent and nothing else, then leaving pre-Covid but keeping the keys to abuse the eviction ban and ask me to give him money to hand back the keys to an empty property. It took another year to get it back! He moved on to a house around the corner and did the same. He is in another house now which he again has applied for fraudulently. Finally, I've got a huge CCJ on his head now which will make things harder for him. There are now 4 landlords with an interest in seeking further prosecution against Mr. L and if there is a lawyer out there interested in taking the case, let me know. There's mountains of physical evidence. There's no hope of getting any money back from him as he only seems to get any income from fraudulent endeavors, but PRISON time is what we want to see.

 

The problem we have is that this family of Jacqueline, Jon and Hannah have handed over thousands. They don't have the money left to install a stair lift even if they were allowed to. The parents are both sleeping on the sofas in the lounge because they are unable to get upstairs. They don't have the money to get out because Mr. L has taken it all. They are trapped in a nightmare situation caused by a web of liars spun by Mr. L, and there is no hope of getting any of the money back from Mr. L as he's been using the money to clear his name of other debts, e.g. unpaid council tax and credit taken out in the names of other people.

 

I've set the target as the amount that has been lost. It would be amazing to achieve that, but in the current state of things, absolutely anything will help.
