Hi, my name is Amanda Olivera, Sergio Olivera’s sister. Sadly, as many of you have come to find out, my brother passed away on May 27th when he was struck by a car while driving home on his motorcycle. I’ve had the privilege of meeting or speaking to many of you, Sergio Olivera’s extended family, friends, peers. My family and I would first and foremost like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the tremendous outreach of support, it has been so comforting during this time, thank you all for the love, support, your prayers, for my brother and our family. I’d also like to send a special thank you to the neighbors who ran to my brother that tragic day to render aid and stayed beside him in his final moments. Thank you everyone for keeping my brothers memory alive. We are eternally grateful to all of you. My brother leaves behind a 5 year old son Giovanni. Sergio was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and cousin, he was the type of person to give someone the shirt off his back, lived for his son and my daughters. Serg or Teddy, as most friends knew him, didn’t just make friends, he found brothers and knew the value of long standing friendships. Sadly, our family, friends, his co-workers have lost a “class act”,as one of his best friends stated to me recently, at the young age of 38. He touched many people. We ask anyone with information on the hit-and-run at Roscoe Blvd and Yolanda Ave to contact authorities; we implore the driver of the vehicle to turn yourself in.
