Many of you know about our Godson Nicolas and how we absolutely love, adore and cherish him. But, many of you do not know that we feel equally the same for the rest of his family... His Papa Sergio, Mama Karla, and siblings Cesar- 21, Sergio Jr.- 19, and Adela- 15. We have known the family for 6years, but through our shared love for Nicolas our families have merged to become one over the last 2.5 years.
It is with a completely shattered heart to share that Sergio, Nicolas’s father, Passed away Tuesday night at the young age of 47. He gave one hell of a fight, but after 30 days his heart and lungs wasn’t as strong as his will and he passed peacefully surrounded by his family. Sergio, his wife Karla, and one of their Sons was diagnosed with Covid on February 4th. On February 9th within just a few short hours he became short of breath and was taken to the hospital via Ambulance. He was immediately admitted into the ICU and three days later was ventilated on February 12th. He was a very healthy active man with NO health issues whatsoever, nor did he smoke and rarely drank. COVID IS A BITCH!!!
Sergio was an exceptional human being with an infectious laugh, a selfless heart, and a truly genuine love for everyone. He was a teacher, a coach, a friend, a son, a brother, a nephew, and cousin. Most importantly and most successfully, he was a Husband and father. This man would work 12- 16 hour days, go to PTA meetings, then coach his children’s youth soccer teams then come home grill and spend time with the kids. This was a man I absolutely adored and admired. Though he was only 10 years older then me, I not only considered him my friend but a father figure.
His loss has been absolutely devastating to his family, friends and community. I have been here in Austin for a month now and have never seen the love and support from so many people as I have over the last day and a half since his passing (and there was a ton of support and love before he passed).
I am creating this Go Fund me in hopes that those of you that are close with Susan and I and know about our Love for Nicolas will help us raise some funds to help support the family. Karla has been out of work this entire time, and the family now lost an income. There are funeral expenses, an astronomical hospital bill, living expenses and children to dress and feed. Anything you are able and willing to donate will be extremely appreciated, if you are unable to donate a simple share will be very helpful. 100% of funds donated will be given to the family, with Susan and I reimbursing whatever fees Go fund me collects per donation.
Thank you, and please stay safe.
