In Loving Memory of Sergio
Donation protected
*Update: Sergio fought hard against his injuries, but unfortunately he lost his battle last night. The money raised will still be used to help with any medical bills and any financial needs Sergio's wife and kids have now or in the future. Thank you for everyone's support so far. Serg will be loved and missed dearly.*
Anyone who knows Sergio Capone will tell you how much of a funny, energetic, and amazing person he is. He is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he can. He is a husband, father of two, son, brother, uncle, and friend and loved by everyone in his life.
On November 10th, 2018 my uncle Sergio was involved in a serious accident while working on a tree in his backyard in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania. As he was working on the tree, a branch fell and trapped him against the tree and pierced through a part of his left leg. Sergio was trapped up in the tree for over forty minutes.
Thanks to the efforts of the New Hanover Fire and Rescue Services, they were able to free Sergio from the tree. He was then airlifted to Reading Hospital.
When Sergio arrived at the hospital, he was in critical condition. The doctors found internal bleeding in the abdomen along with the injury to his left leg so they rushed him in to surgery. Fortunately, the internal bleeding was from his leg injury and not from his abdomen. During the surgery, Sergio was too unstable so they stopped the surgery to wait for his swelling in his abdomen to go down.
Tragically, two days after the accident, the doctors had no choice but to amputate his left leg up to his mid thigh.
In the past five days, Sergio has been in five different surgeries to try and close his abdomen, remove dead muscle and tissue from his leg and clean it out.
Sergio is in stable condition but still battling through his injuries in the ICU. He is currently sedated and using a breathing and feeding tube.
I am setting this page up because there will be lots of bills to cover from the helicopter flight, medical expenses, and from being out of work for so long.
Sergio has a long road ahead of him but with the support of his family and friends we know he will succeed!
Any donations you could give or help you can offer in sharing this link with friends and family would be greatly appreciated. The funds will assist Sergio and his wife Kim with many financial needs along the way.

(At this time, we ask if you personally know the family to not discuss details with your children or to discuss the situation with Sergio's children. Kim does not want their children hearing about what happened to their dad through people other than herself. Thank you.)
