Sergey, A Gay Armenian Youth, Needs Your Help
Donation protected
My name is Hagop. I’m a gay Armenian man who lives happily and freely in the United States with my amazing husband.
I recently had the absolute pleasure (followed quickly by total heartbreak) of virtually meeting a young gay man who lives in a small village in Armenia. His name is Sergey, and he is 18.
Sergey reached out to me via Instagram after getting outed, subsequently bullied and then physically abused so badly by classmates that he ended up in the hospital. After his family found out about his sexuality, he was physically abused once again. Sergey has such a bright future ahead of him, but his current conditions will not allow him to reach any kind of potential. He cannot live in his homeland as an openly gay man, which has left me completely gutted. Sergey not only longs for the freedom to be himself, but also deserves it. If I could help this amazing human all on my own, I would.
Unfortunately, that is not the case, which is why I’m asking for your help. Sergey’s goal is to apply for a student VISA and begin his studies in Political Science at Los Angeles Community College. He wants to be a pioneer of change for Armenia but believes he needs a U.S. education and the freedom to be himself while completing his studies in order to achieve that.
Whatever amount of money you are able to contribute will cover one of Sergey’s semesters at LACC. Thank you profusely for your time, consideration and donation.
Sincerely,
Hagop N.
