Above is the photograph of Sergeant First Class (Ret) Jason Fetty and his family. He is the first Army Reservist to receive the Silver Star, the nation’s third highest decoration for valor, since the Vietnam War.  During his service in Afghanistan in 2007, SFC Fetty observed a suspicious character during the opening ceremonies for a hospital in Khost province.  He approached the man and realized he was wearing a suicide vest. SFC Fetty made the call all soldiers know deep in their souls that they might have to make and jumped on the suicide bomber without hesitation. Incredibly he survived but with several injuries, including traumatic brain injury, and PTSD. As a result of his actions, he received the Silver Star.  SFC Fetty’s action, saved the lives of some 20 civilians and soldiers. Today, he is living in League City, Texas but was let go from his place of employment and has not received his severance check.  During this holiday season, while we have had a terrible year, we still have our families and the future to look forward to. Please join me in wishing, SFC Fetty and his family Merry Christmas by giving him a little help and hope for the future.
