The mission of the Serge Onik Dance Scholarship with Broadway Dance Center is to provide access to dance for people who lack such resources.

Named after Serge Onik, the Serge Onik Dance Scholarship with Broadway Dance Center was started to honor the legacy of dance and determination set forth by the late great artist, dancer, teacher, choreographer, son, brother, friend, and long-time staff member of BDC. A first-generation immigrant from the Ukraine, Serge Onik was a pioneer in the world of dance starting with Ballroom Dancing, his first passion.

The essence of the Serge Onik Dance Scholarship with Broadway Dance Center can be summed up with this quote: "Carpe Saltatum" which in Latin means "Seize the Dance." This was the statement the artist lived by and would like to impart on all applicants.
