We are a collective of friends raising funds to help animals and care for a pocket of land in a quiet valley of the Pyrenees. We named this project Serendipia de Arrebol, meaning "the serendipity of the sunset glow," which to us captures small moments of connection found when living in harmony with the mountains.

Right now, we are on the verge of signing a contract for a magical piece of land high up in the Spanish Pyrenees to start our animal sanctuary. To make this project a permanent reality, we need to buy the land. Owning the property gives us the security to use our stable, normal jobs to directly support the animals and build our off-grid sanctuary. But we need help with the first investment so we can actually commit to taking care of these precious beings.

Our focus is building a sanctuary to rescue animals, giving them a space where we can learn more about them and support them as they grow old. Alongside the care for animals, we hope to create a community center - a home for art workshops and retreats that invite all humans to reconnect with the land, themselves, and other beings. We would like to create an intentional and inclusive space for queer and creative individuals like ourselves, and animals, to find quiet and feel part of something kind. In this space, every life is valued for who they are, not what they can provide.

We are starting mindfully, while still living in alignment with our values and respecting the land. We will live off-grid with a full focus on sustainability and gradual development of a permaculture food forest.

Down the road, we would like to invest in a yurt to host art retreats as a way to generate income and sustain the animal care. We will use funds for the day-to-day essentials like fencing, shelters, and vet bills so our residents - especially disabled animals or those from shelters and farms - can grow old in peace.

Please note that because setting a strict limit on a lifelong, evolving project is difficult, we are keeping our fundraising open to any amount. Every single contribution helps us secure the land and lay down the vital infrastructure needed to get the sanctuary running. Reaching beyond our initial milestones will simply allow us to safely invest in more space, better facilities, and a deeply secure, long-term future for the animals we take under our wings.
