Serena’s memorial donation to San Diego Zoo
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
Before her last trip to the emergency room, Serena’s last moments of pure joy was at a Petting Zoo in Virginia. She loved animals and cared for them deeply. We want to honor her and keep places like these open by supporting them in every way we can.
Due to the overwhelming support from our first fundraiser within her clinical lab family, we are setting up another fundraiser for a bigger goal and a greater cause! We know that Serena is loved by so many of you. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to help us honor her memory by donating to a cause she cared about.
Sanford Childrens Zoo is a new project by San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park that is set to open on October 2021. Our goal is make a memorial donation in Serena’s name and secure an individual-level recognition for her at this new development when it opens. We confirmed with the SD Zoo representative today that the project is on schedule and that we still have until April to raise the funds and for us to be able to have Serena’s name included in the individual recognition. These recognitions are expected to stay on there for 20 years. It is a wonderful spot for us to relish our moments with Serena and above all, we will be able to support the animals at the Zoo.
Serena loved animal encounters in close up action in the wild and open waters, she loved all of them at the Zoo, and she had a lot of them as her pets even at her one bedroom apartment in Downtown SD.
She once donated to the Marine Conservation Science Institute when they launched their Name-a-Shark Program. There is a Guadalupe Island Great White Shark #207 out there in the ocean that is named Serena.
I have enjoyed attending Lymphoma and Leukemia society fundraisers with Serena and seen her generosity and genuine love for others.
She loved life and made sure that everyone around her had an amaaazing day! I hope she continues to inspire you and that her joy and her generosity continues to live through you!
