Help Serena's Funeral Expenses and Medical Bills
Donation protected
I am sure most Munster residents know and have been to Little Tokyo on 45th Ave. That restaurant has been an icon in the Munster community because of its great Japanese food and, most importantly, the couple who owned it, John and Serena Chen. I have known this couple since they opened their restaurant in 2004. John, who is also the chef, is mostly in the background, while Serena was the face of the restaurant. Serena was known by so many in Munster because of her kind, compassionate and generous spirit. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to an individual, her children’s class, the school, or the community. If you talked to her even just once, she would remember you and make sure that she will give you extra candies or giveaways from their restaurant. She was a kind soul, always trying to please everyone. She also was active in all the schools her children went to: FHH, WWMS, and MHS. She volunteered for so many activities and gave generous donations. I am sure that many have known her and have encountered her in Munster.
I am sad to say that Serena passed away last Friday. She lost her battle with breast cancer. She left behind her 2 children, Bill and Charlie, and her husband John. While the restaurant is still standing, this is the family’s only source of income. Even though the pandemic hit them really badly, they remained standing, keeping their legacy going for the Munster community. But with Serena’s passing, they need our help for her funeral expenses. As Serena was generous to us and the community, may we give back that generosity to them. Please donate whatever you can for this family. All donations will pay for her funeral expenses and outstanding medical bills.
