Serci's Unexpected Medical Expenses
Donation protected

After testing positive for COVID, Serci had an easy quarantine, never feeling a hint of the symptoms. On January 14th, what would’ve been her last day of quarantine, around 8 PM, Serci was in bed studying for one of the first of her last nursing tests when her left arm went completely numb. She and her mom, Kim, drove to the emergency room in Clarksdale, where she got two CT scans and sent home to get some rest. When she got home, she knew something wasn’t right when her left arm started shaking and jerking uncontrollably and looked in the mirror and the left side of her face was drooping. From there, they decided it was best to go to the North Sunflower ER. They arrived in Ruleville around 6:30 AM, did another CT, and the doctor immediately put her in an ambulance to Jackson, MS. During that road trip to Jackson, Serci seized. When they arrived to the ER, she seized again. She spent two days in the ER and two days in ICU. Meanwhile, during those four days, Kim and Serci were told that Serci had a massive brain tumor. Thankfully, it was misdiagnosed... and was only a blood clot on the right side of her brain that ended up causing the stroke and should be able to be treated with medications. But nonetheless, all of this adds up- from an ambulance ride, to multiple CT scans, multiple MRIs, ICU stay, all the ins and outs of medical expenses, the upcoming physical therapy and neurology appointments to get Serci back to the good ole Serci we all know and love.
The people in the Delta have always been very generous in helping others, and I am hopeful that you will offer the best of help you can.
If you could support Serci by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps get closer to the goal!
