Sera Husky and Animal Rescue

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm taking part in the VHI Womens Mini Marathon 2024 and will be raising money in aid of Sera Husky and Animal Rescue and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

Sera Husky and Animal Rescue are a Non Profit Organisation run solely by volunteers and do the most amazing work within a small community in Lisselton, Co. Kerry. As a result of their hard work, we have had two new family members join us within the last 5 years, Sive in 2019 and Griff in 2021. Sive was found tied to a tree and they rescued her to give her the life she deserved. My sister fell in love with her during a visit to the rescue in 2019 and decided to adopt her. She is the craziest, smelliest dog you'll ever meet, but is super affectionate and rocks a bandana like no other dog.

Griff was a stray around Listowel for 2 years, he had it really tough and got his head and neck caught in a snare that had been set by a farmer. Needless to say,he was very scared and hurt badly when a local resident contacted Sera Husky and Animal Rescue. At the same time, my parents had decided they had wanted to welcome a new dog into their lives and had been keeping an eye on the Facebook page for Sera Husky and Animal Rescue. They both fell in love with Griff (at the time known as Bingo) and took a trip down to Lisselton to meet him properly. On his first meeting with them, he walked up to my Dad and jumped up to him placing his paws on his chest. My Dad took this as a sign and he was welcomed into their home shortly after that. Both dogs were named to honour their connection to North Kerry, Sive because of John B.Keanes play and Griff was a shortened version of my Grandmothers maiden name, Griffin.
For both dogs, Maurice drove them both up to Dublin to make sure they were happy and could settle into their new home. The work that every single member of the team here do daily, not just to help dogs, but all animals is something that should be celebrated.
For me, I also wanted the chance to support an animal rescue close to where my Grandmother was from in Listowel. It was her 30th anniversary last December and I thought this would be a nice way to honour her also.
