Sequoia's gender affirming surgery & recovery

Taja here, instigating this community support moment for my love Sequoia Hauck. They are a two spirit, non-binary trans filmmaker, performer, PCA, and care worker.

This October Sequoia will have top surgery! They've been in the process, waiting to the right time, trying to balance the freelance, artist and recovery timing puzzle. It's now, the time has arrived!

If you know Sequoia you know they go out of their way to support others, and this is an amazing chance to give back to them.

Folks deserve to have a body they love and feel at home in, gender affirming surgery is essential and can be life-saving!

Why this $$ amount? How is this situation unique?

There are a few reasons we've chosen this amount.

They themselves and their body really well, and feel that a longer recovery time, and time away from freelance work will be the best way for their body to recover. They plan to take a full 8 weeks, if not more, away from work, and as a freelancer that is a significant amount of income they won't have access to.
