The CZU Lightning Complex Fire is continuing to rage in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. First responders and state resources are being stretched to the limits and residents are being displaced, potentially losing everything. Here in our home county of San Luis Obispo on the central coast of California we are experiencing blanketing smoke drift from the River Fire south of Salinas. Rescue crews, volunteers and disaster relief organizations are working around the clock to help those impacted all over our state right now. Tommy and I want to do our part with what we've got - and what we've got is a food truck! Hungry Mother is heading north to feed people and offer our support, and we will stay as long as our funds hold out. The food truck will be open to whomever needs a meal - first responders, evacuees, volunteers - anyone who could use a hand during this disaster. If you are in a position to chip in, all of the funds will go to the direct costs of providing free meals to those on the ground in the fire-impacted zones.
2020 has been a wild one, but stronger than any disaster is the power of human kindness and the willingness to show up for one another. We are all in this together. Stay safe out there, community!
