I am reaching out to you today on behalf of a good friend, neighbor, and brother who needs a little help. In 2016 Ivan and his wife Jill decided to take a big risk and move across the world from Tasmania, Australia to Medina, Ohio, USA so that Jill could be closer to her family. Since that time i have been lucky enough to get to know Ivan and he has proven to be one of my greatest friends, an honest mentor, loyal brother in law, and engaging uncle to my children. Upon arrival to the U.S. Ivan immediately started looking for work and has been working hard ever since. He has always been willing to lend a hand, a friendly and sympathetic ear when needed, and even his car when i was temporarily without one.
At the end of 2018, Ivan started experiencing random stomach pains , groin pains, lrthargy, and flu like symptoms. In January he had visited two doctors and was prescribed antibiotics. Unfortunately the symptoms did not improve. Ivan's father and family had previously organized a visit back in Tasmania that same month for three weeks vacation. Ivan pre-booked a dr.s appointment for the day after his scheduled arrival in Tasmania. After another coarse of different antibiotics, blood tests, urine samples, ultrasounds, and an MRI, it was determined that he has bladder cancer. Ivan has already spent thousands of dollars due to a stay in a private hospital (Calvary Hospital, Hobart) , where he had a cystopscopy and a biopsy done. Unfortunately the cancer is malignant and he needs a major surgery to remove a part of his bladder as well as his urachus tract. He will need to spend between one and two weeks in hospital assumjng there are no complications.
Originally Ivan was supposed to be away from home for three weeks. Returning to his wife and two rescue dogs by the end of february. As he is currently still awaiting a bed in Hobart hospital, he is still waiting in Tasmania and has no idea when he will be able to be well enough and recovered to return home to the America. This is what brings us here now.
There are two purposes of "Go Fund Me" that we are trying to acheive. First to ensure that rent, utilities, insurances, general bill's, and expenses are covered during Ivan's absence. Ivan was the major "bread winner" for his family as his wife is only able to work part time due to her own medical issues. It would be impossible for jill to cover all of the bills alone. Ivan really needs some help.
Secondly, if we can achieve it, we would like to be able to raise enough funds for Jill to be able to fly to Australia to be with her husband during his time of need. Whether that be quality time spent before the major surgery , during surgery, or support after, having a spouse would be a major help.
Ivan and Jill have been happily married for 12 years now and the emotional toll of being apart for so long has been devestating to both of them.
We are asking for any and all support you may be able to offer. Positive thoughts and prayers are also appreciated.
