The P&C Team at Malibu School in Safety Bay is working hard to fund a sensory room in the junior school.
Our school supports children with complex medical, physical, and educational needs, kids who are navigating enormous challenges every single day just to be in the classroom. These children are bright, curious, and full of potential — but they need the right environment to help them thrive.
Why We’re Asking for Help...
Our school community is full of dedication and love, but it’s also limited in resources. Our parent community is already stretched supporting children with very high care needs. Between medical appointments, therapy sessions, and full-time caregiving, many families simply don’t have the capacity or time for large-scale fundraising.
That’s why we’re reaching out to the wider community — to people who believe in inclusion, dignity, and the right of every child to access education in a way that works for them.
Our Goal: A Sensory Room to Support Learning
We’re raising funds to upgrade our sensory room — a purpose-designed space where students can access the sensory input they need to prepare their brains and bodies for learning.
For neurodivergent and medically complex students, a “sensory diet” — the right mix of movement, pressure, light, sound, and tactile input — can make all the difference. When students receive the sensory input that works best for them, they can:
• Improve attention and engagement in class
• Reduce physical discomfort and distraction
• Strengthen motor and communication skills
• Feel more confident and in control of their learning day
Where Your Donation Will Go
Every dollar will go directly toward sensory equipment and the setup of the space. We are aiming to raise $10,000, which will allow us to purchase:
• Calming LED lighting (Approximately-$5000)
• Sensory wall panels and tactile play stations
• Weighted blankets and lap pads
• Bubble tubes and visual stimulation panels
If we’re fortunate enough to go beyond our goal, additional funds will go toward more equipment on our wish list. Sensory equipment is highly specialised and often expensive — $10,000 won’t cover everything these students could benefit from, but it’s a strong and meaningful start. We’re incredibly grateful for every donation, big or small, and deeply appreciate your support in helping us take this first important step.
Even $5 or $10 helps us get closer to giving these children the space they truly deserve.
Thank you for caring, for reading, for sharing!
If you’d prefer to donate directly please reach out.
With gratitude,
P&C Team
