Senseless shooting on 6 and 7 year old

counseling trauma therapy.

It was all just too good to end a wonderful night with out any violence. The afternoon started out so nice a free bbq for the community and all we're welcomed, later that evening ending in fireworks. So many people from different sides of town in Wilmington gather together for the event. Great music,karaoke, good vibes and the crowd came with laughter. When the street lights came on we started to prepare for the fireworks that brought and even bigger crowd a few hundred people and everyone enjoyed the fireworks. After the fireworks my family and all who was left started cleaning up what was left. The children sat on the front steps just enjoying the night air. As the free food signs were still hanging from the poles, someone decided to drive by and shoot towards my family striking my two grandchildren. I remember hearing my daughter yelling get down get down, so I through myself to the ground. Then I heard my 7 year old Grandson say I got shot, mom mom I'm bleeding screaming . As I crawled to him, I looked over to where the children were once sitting on the steps and I saw my 6 year old Grandson holding his stomach. He had been shot and was just laying there motionless, I picked up his little body and I ran to my car. I stopped because I saw my daughter running with her 2 year old son and 7 year old son's, struggling but determined to get to me in the car. Next I just remember driving and blowing my horn for maybe 5 minutes or so. Me and my daughter were yelling/crying and telling the boy's to hold on we are almost there, please just breathe. As we arrived at the hospital, I kept my hand on the horn and the ER doctors came running out to us. We both yelled "they have been shot, both boys are shot". They took my family and began their life saving technics. My 6 year grandson was flown to the children's hospital, were he is on the his 3rd surgery and my 7 year old grandson was taken by ambulance to the same Childrens hospital. We spent the night going from room to room. Upstairs with one child downstairs to another, back and forth, until we were told the boys conditions. My son/the father of the 6 year old and his wife, have been at the hospital since this happened. My daughter is at home with her 7 year old, he still has a bullet lodged in his little leg. Once my family was told their conditions were critical stable, we began to look to each other for answers. Now these boy's will need so much medical attention, there is no way we can afford what it will take for them to at least be able to be regular kids again. These two children are devastated and will need counseling, therapy and medical attention for many months and years to come. We were told to set up this gofundme account to help with the overwhelming bills we have acquired and the many more to come. No donation is too small or too big, every penny counts
