Sense and Sensibility Fundraiser!

In May of 2020, West 14th Theater Company was founded by three NYU students: Ravi Schwartz, Kira Lukasik, and Nora Lullo, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Their inaugural production of John Cariani’s Almost, Maine was a tremendous success and raised $4,945.73 for Free Arts NYC, a non-profit arts organization in New York City. Now, they are taking on a new challenge. On November 22nd, West 14th Theater Company will produce an online production of  Kate Hamill’s Sense and Sensibility directed by Nora Lullo. Based on the acclaimed novel by Jane Austen, this adaptation tells the story of the Dashwood sisters after their father's sudden death which leaves them financially and socially vulnerable. The play is fast-paced, filled with humor, and revolves around nuanced love stories you don’t want to miss!

With the help of potential donors, we hope to transport our audience into the world of the play all while making attending the performance accessible. With a production budget of $1000, we plan to allocate these funds to cover the cost of a Zoom license, rights to the play, props, backdrops, and costumes. Any amount raised that is greater than our targeted goal will either be further invested into Sense & Sensibility or future West 14th projects. We deeply appreciate all of the support we have been given thus far. No amount is too small (or too big)!

We strongly believe that theater is a means of building bridges and bringing people together and hope to inspire that through our work. We are an artist-driven organization making theater happen even in the most difficult of times. Although the world is at a standstill, our aim is to one day graduate from zoom productions and produce plays in person!
