Senna needs our help

Senna needs our help right now.  As many of you know, Senna suffers from schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects less than 1% of the US population. When in an active schizophrenic state symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, trouble with thinking clearly, and a lack of motivation. 

Those of us who know Senna, know in our hearts that the events that resulted in his arrest on Feb 19, are on account of an untreated schizophrenic episode. Senna has always been a gentle, soft spoken, good natured human. Since his incarceration he was committed to a psychiatric ward to be under evaluation, during his stay the clinical staff deemed Senna to be a person with a mental health disorder who needs to be under psychiatric care. Unfortunately, the law is less forgiving, and Senna has been returned to jail where he will not receive the help he needs. 

The judge has set Sennas bond at $21,000 cash, due to the serious nature of his offenses. After speaking to a bail bondsman, we would have to come up with $2,100 +$120 service fee in order to have Senna released.  This is not excusing his behavior, he is not “off the hook” for anything that has happened, but jail is no place for a sick young man. If we can bond him out, he will have the opportunity to receive the treatment he needs.
