A Mother's Heartbreaking Loss Just Days After Arriving in America – Please Help
- I am a 66-year-old single mother. After 25 years of waiting, my youngest daughter (28) and I finally received our U.S. immigration visas. Unfortunately, my eldest daughter (40) was not approved and had to remain in Vietnam, leaving us with an incomplete and painful separation.
On June 15, 2025, my youngest daughter and I arrived in the U.S., filled with tears of joy and hope. We believed the hardest days were behind us and a new, bright future awaited. But just three days later, the worst tragedy of my life struck.
My daughter suddenly suffered severe pain, difficulty breathing, and continuous vomiting. I took her to a major hospital in Las Vegas.During the initial visit, the attending physician conducted a brief examination and performed a chest X-ray. We were informed that there were “a few dark spots” on the lungs, but the doctor concluded that it was not serious and discharged my child without further testing, monitoring, or follow-up.
However, within 24 hours, my child's condition significantly worsened. My child became increasingly fatigued, experienced severe body pain, and had difficulty breathing. I was forced to rush my child to a hospital in Las Vegas for a second visit, where the condition had become critical. Tragically, despite efforts to save them, my child passed away shortly afterward. Within a single day, she was diagnosed with MRSA — a deadly, drug-resistant infection that destroyed her organs and lungs. My daughter passed away in agony, right where our hopes had just begun.
This has left me with many questions:
How could a major hospital reach such a dismissive conclusion with minimal testing?
Was it medically appropriate to discharge my child based on limited imaging and without close monitoring?
Was there a failure in standard diagnostic procedure or clinical judgment?
She had always been healthy, strong-willed, and dreamt of living, studying, and working in the U.S. She had been denied a visa five times before. Just as her dream was finally within reach, it shattered in mere days.
I cannot understand how a major American hospital, known for its advanced healthcare, could be so negligent. If my daughter had been thoroughly examined from the start, she might still be alive.
As a parent with no medical background, I trusted the professionals to provide thorough and adequate care. Now, I am left devastated, grieving an unimaginable loss, and searching for answers.
Now, I am alone in a foreign land with no relatives and no financial means, unsure how to arrange my daughter’s funeral. My body and spirit are completely broken.
My daughter left this world too young, carrying with her countless dreams and a bright future that was never realized. All of it was destroyed by medical negligence—betraying the trust I had in this healthcare system.
I sincerely ask for compassion and support from the community to help me through this unbearable loss. Without help, I do not know how I can continue living.
My child was young, full of life, and deserved better. I will not find closure until these questions are addressed with transparency and accountability.
I placed my trust in the hands of medical professionals. But now, I am left grieving and questioning: Was something missed? Was the initial assessment inadequate? Could my daughter have been saved if the situation had been handled differently?
I have no medical background, and that’s why I am sincerely asking — if anyone with expertise can help me review what happened, explain the medical reasoning, or guide me toward accountability. I need clarity. I need to know if this loss could have been prevented.
My daughter did not deserve to leave this world so soon. Please, if you can provide any insight, advice, or direction, I would be deeply grateful.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
