Senior Dog & Owner left Homeless from House Fire!

My neighbor and friend Anna Tammens and her senior dog Spaz lost their home of 18 years to a house fire in Grand Rapids on Wednesday morning. Anna was at work when the house caught on fire but luckily a construction worker and neighbor noticed. They were able to break into the house and save Spaz. Anna is beyond devastated with grief of losing everything she had, but grateful for the only thing that really matter was that Spaz was rescued.

Anna was a long term renter of this home and lived there all of Spaz’s life. He is 13 years old and so utterly confused as to why he can’t go back to the only house he ever knew. Unfortunately Anna did not have renters insurance and is living paycheck to paycheck. It’s a real struggle without funds for her to find a new home that allows her dog so she can rebuild her life. Since the fire, she is currently staying in a hotel that allows pets so she can keep Spaz but that won’t last for long! She really needs to get into a home ASAP but doesn’t have the down payment money to do so.

Anna has not only lost her home but also cherished memories, sentimental items, and everyday necessities. After many friends and neighbors asked how they can help, I created this GoFundMe campaign to provide assistance to Anna and Spaz during this difficult time. The funds raised will go towards securing temporary shelter, replacing essential belongings, putting a deposit down on a new rental home, and helping them begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

Anna is the most generous person and has helped so many people and animals her whole life. She so much deserves our help now when she needs it the most.
