In Memory of Doug Stegmeyer

Hi, everyone – my name is Mike Stutz. I am the creator and Admin of the fanpage Billy Joel: Completely Retold on Facebook.

Originally, this GoFundMe Page was created to raise money for The Stegmeyer Family to attend the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and see their beloved Doug honored for his contributions to the music of Billy Joel.

On Sept 17th, I was told by a member of the Stegmeyer family that our plight had reached the ears of a private donor, and that this donor has purchased tickets for the entire Stegmeyer Family to attend!!!

Since we always said we would donate any extra money we raise to charity in Doug's name, I chatted with the Stegmeyers on what they would like us to do with the money raised here. They told me that their church is in dire financial crisis, and is in danger of shutting down if nothing is done. This is the same church that Doug's family helped build in the 1950s. It is also the same church where Doug's funeral was held - The Community Church Of Syosset:
