Road to the CrossFit Adaptive Games

Donation protected

A little over a year ago, my world turned both literally and figuratively upside down. I woke up one morning with a form of facial paralysis called Bell's Palsy. Normally, it's treatable with steroids and resolves quickly. However, my case didn't follow the normal prognosis. Within a few days, the inflammation spread and became so severe that I was no longer able to even walk to the bathroom unassisted. Ultimately, it resulted in lasting damage to my facial and vestibular nerves. After several months of rehab, I finally began to see through the dizziness and vertigo; I not only relearned how to walk, I learned more about myself and what it takes to overcome the difficulties that fate throws at us. I believe that God gave me this challenge as a reminder that all of life is about balance.
This July, I've been blessed with the opportunity to show just how far I have come physically and mentally through this experience.
As a newly-adaptive CrossFitter, I have qualified for the Adaptive Games in Canada hosted by WheelWOD. In competing, I will be debuting my newfound sense of equilibrium for the first time since my diagnosis.
