Sending Veterans to WSOP salute to warriors

Jacki Burkhart and Angela Jordison are fundraising on behalf of veterans to send to 2023 WSOP Salute to Warriors event.

In 2019 we did a similar campaign and sent 3 veterans. This year our goal is to send 5 veterans (possibly more!)

We have already selected our first veteran, Ryan Mitchell from Waterloo, Iowa (pictured). We met Ryan somewhat recently, but became fast friends and were very moved and inspired by his story and offered to send him to the event.

We will open nominations via Twitter and Facebook and select the other 4 (or more) in the coming 1-2 weeks. Veterans may nominate themselves, or be nominated by friends, family or coworkers.

Selected Veterans will receive $500 for STW event. $500 airfare stipend and 4 nights at Caesar’s horseshoe (or comparable property based on availability).

We are making this gofundme because people are asking us how they can get involved and donate. We plan to cover any difference if the $10,000 goal is not met. If we get any extra money we may choose to send more veterans, or enrich their packages.

Edited again 3-22-2023 to provide additional details about how the funds will be spent and transferred to the veterans. The initial $500 airfare stipend will be sent directly to the selected veterans by the method of their choosing ASAP (2-3 days) after verifying their military service. The 4 nights hotel will be pre-paid by Angela and Jacki including all taxes and fees, a block of rooms has already been secured by us. Any remaining funds will be distributed in cash by Angela and Jacki at the welcome breakfast on 6/25/2023.
