Sending Sarah: Honolulu Prayer Tour

Dear Friends,
As many of you know I live in Los Angeles, CA. A few months shy of a decade ago I moved to California with Hollywood on the brain and a zealous heart to see LA fall in love with Jesus Christ. My greatest desire is for each individual to know their identity in Christ walking empowered by His Holy Spirit as His witnesses and as His beloved adopted children. I attend and work as the Missions Director of Local Engagement at a church called Reality LA. Since I started attending RLA in 2010 and joining staff in 2013, I have had the incredible opportunity to participate in their vision for church planting!
We, Reality LA, were the first plant of a larger family of churches started by a bunch of surfer’s from Santa Barbara. Our little family has grown to eight churches spanning the coast of California (Carpinteria, LA, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Stockton, San Francisco), Boston, and London as of last summer. This year, we will officially plant our ninth church in Honolulu, Hawaii pastored by Ryan Hillner from Reality Carpenteria.
Whenever a new church is planted, members from each Reality are sent on what we call a Prayer Tour. Think of it as a prayer walk but on a massive scale. Each day for one week members from all of the Reality churches will come together to walk the streets of Honolulu praying for the city, the church, and the Hillners in this great endeavor. This July 23-28 I will be joining the prayer tour for Reality Honolulu.
I am writing you this letter first and foremost to ask for prayer. In my four years working in missions I know full well that there is insane warfare when you are doing His work. A prayer tour is no different and we will need all the prayer we can get!
Specifically I would ask for prayer regarding my future involvement with Reality Honolulu. It may come as a surprise to many of you, but …
…OH GOSH! Here we go, it’s official, I can’t take it back now….
The Lord has made it abundantly clear the past two years that my time in Los Angeles is drawing to a close and He is leading me join the RHNL church plant, to live in Honolulu, love the city, share the gospel, and serve the church.
I’m sure there are a TON of questions! Trust me, I have a lot too. In the coming months I will be slowly sharing a bit of that story for whoever wants to know.
I want to be clear, this call is NOT immediate. For now all I know is that I have been called to be faithful and finish well. My timeline could be a few months or a few years. I do not know what I will be doing, where I will be living, or any other details for when I am there. I am waiting at watching, trusting the Lord and will not step out until He says go.
In the meantime I am even more excited and fervent to do the work He has called me to in LA at RLA, my dream job, as I call people to action on mission every day.
With that in mind, I would ask that you please partner with me on this trip through prayer. Pray that God would use me to serve and minister to every person we encounter in Honolulu, that His light and love would shine through our team.
I would also like to ask you to pray about joining with me on this trip by supporting me financially. I need to raise $1800 to pay for airfare, transportation, accommodations and food.
