Making school trip possible for my best friend

My high school Latin class is taking a trip to Italy and France this spring. My best friend, Adrian, really wants to go. However, his family is on a tight budget with one parent working. His dad has been unable to work the past several years after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Adrian is a wonderful, exuberant, hard-working 16-year-old. The trip costs $3500. Adrian is nearly halfway to that goal through working a summer job, diligently mowing lawns, raking leaves, and shoveling driveways. He has never been outside the United States and I think this trip with many of his friends could be an incredible experience.
