Sending Love and Support to a Dovy

We’re setting up a donation page for those that want to help support Atlas with his emergency vet bills, and his up coming vet appointments. His visit was over 1000, and I’m anticipating his next visits will be costly as well. We are grateful for anyone that wants to contribute if they are able.

At 6:30 am I woke up and went to say good morning to Atlas sleeping in his cage. He was awake trying to use the bathroom, unable to go with a little blood coming out. He was puffed up making strange noises. he also had a very funky smell. I took him to the emergency animal hospital right away. They did tests that showed his bowels completely backed up with a mass almost as big as his head that ended up being stool. (At the time they thought it could be a tumor or cyst) we don’t know how this happened as he going to the bathroom fine the day before and had lots of energy. They found he had a clostridium bacterial infection. I am still waiting to hear back about the DNA sequencing testing. Now he is taking 4 medications (antibiotics, painkillers, laxatives) twice a day and we will be going back to the vet in about a week. He was able to pass some of the stool out. He is doing better and relaxing but not eating much still not going to the bathroom much. I have been making him chamomile tea and given him magnesium sponge baths along with fresh vegetables to make him feel better.
