For the first time in 11 years, Ethiopia has qualified for the Pan-African Robotics Competition (PARC) Makers League.
I am creating this fundraiser to support Nolawi Hailu and Zakir Nuredin, two high school students from Kotebe University of Education Science Shared Campus in Addis Ababa. Out of 56 teams across Ethiopia, they made history by qualifying to represent their nation at PARC 2026 in Dakar, Senegal (Nov 3–7, 2026) with KINETIC AI Combat Movement Coach—an intelligent, low-cost sports tech system using sensors, computer vision, and machine learning.
Track Record of Innovation
Joint Achievement: 3rd place, Kotebe University Science Fair (Harvest Cycle AI ag-rover).
Zakir: 3rd place, MySoroban National Math Competition.
Nolawi:
Global 2nd place, Yale Entrepreneurial Society (YES) Pitch Finals (VitaFold neonatal system).
1st place, National Ethiopic App Development Contest (EthioAgri AI platform).
The Challenge & What Your Support Covers
The biggest obstacle standing between them and Dakar is travel and competition costs. As high school students, Nolawi and Zakir can not cover international travel independently, and their school's existing budget limitations prevent direct funding.
Your support will directly fund:
Round-trip flights (Addis Ababa ✈️ Dakar)
Accommodation, food, and essential living expenses
Local transportation and hardware components
Transparency & Fund Transfer Note
Because GoFundMe does not support direct withdrawals in Ethiopia, Rebecca Jeyachandran is organizing this campaign from the United States on behalf of Nolawi and Zakir. 100% of net funds raised will be withdrawn directly to Rebecca’s US bank account and immediately transferred to Nolawi and Zakir in Addis Ababa to cover their official expenses.
How You Can Help & Why It Matters
Every contribution brings these two young innovators closer to Dakar. Whether it is $5, $20, $50, or more, every donation matters. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is equally valuable. A single share can help reach someone who can provide support.
This is more than sending two students to a competition; it is a chance for young Ethiopian innovators to represent their country on a Pan-African stage, prove what African students can accomplish in STEM, and inspire the next generation.
Let’s help them get to Dakar and carry the Ethiopian flag with pride!
