Our Mom, Linda Thompson, could really use your love and support right now! Many of you know that she has been battling Diverticulitis since the Summer of 2023. At that time, she was hospitalized for 3 days and never fully recovered. She was adversely affected throughout the fall/winter by the disease and worsened in January. She first went to the ER on 1/24 and was sent home with antibiotics which didn't work. She went back to the ER for a second time on 1/27, where they discovered that her colon had perforated and she was admitted to the hospital. After 4 excruciating days, she had emergency surgery on 1/31, where they removed one foot of her colon. She then remained in the hospital until 2/22 (26 days in total), as she had numerous complications and setbacks during this time. Since being home, she has required 24-hour care by family and friends. Her doctor estimates that it will take her up to 4.5 months to recover (mid-July). Once she has recovered from this surgery, she will require a 2nd surgery (late summer).

As you can imagine, this traumatic experience has taken its toll on her mind, body, and soul. She is still struggling daily with basic tasks and requires ongoing medical care. She has in-home nursing two times per week, receives wound-care one time per week at the hospital, and sees one of her doctors at least once per week. She is very weak, struggles to walk and breathe, can hardly eat, and she continues to feel sick all the time. The good news is though that she is making progress towards recovery - it is just a very slow and challenging process!

Unfortunately, Linda is not able to work at all right now and won't be able to return to full-time work until she has recovered from her 2nd surgery (August/September). Being self-employed, this means that she has NO income right now. Rather than be worried about how to pay the bills, we want our Mom to be able to fully focus on healing! As such, we are respectfully requesting your financial assistance towards helping her with living expenses and medical costs during her recovery.

Over the last 2 months, we have received a tremendous amount of love and support from so many who have prayed for her, sent flowers and cards, and even helped with expenses to date. She said while still in the hospital that she didn't think she would have survived without all the prayers and support. We all know how lucky she is to be alive and we want to make sure that her recovery is as stress-free and successful as possible. Any and all assistance towards that goal is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your generosity!
