Send Anissa to Samoa to Study 'Ulu

My goal is to study breadfruit in Samoa for 3 weeks. I will attend the Global Breadfruit Summit (an international breadfruit conference) to meet with ‘ulu farmers from around the world, leading scientists and researchers in the field, and to learn new, innovative methods of fruit processing.

I will also investigate Samoa’s ancient breadfruit agro-forests, community gardens, and contemporary ‘ulu orchards by site visits and volunteer work. Throughout this journey I will be taking photos, gathering information, and collecting data to create educational material to share when I return home to Hawai’i.
