Abdulrahman's Road To Education

Donation protected
My student and friend Abdulrahman’s dream of pursuing a career in journalism was inspired by the same war that forced him to leave Syria and become a refugee in Jordan.  Now, through his amazing diligence and hard work, Abdulrahman has been offered the opportunity to attend a private university in the United States.  As a Syrian recipient of a top academic scholarship, he has been awarded free tuition for 4 years-- however, his room and board are not covered.

This is where you can help.

Abdulrahman has taken a long gut wrenching path to get to where he is today.  Abdulrahman was eager to finish high school to pursue degree journalism at Damascus University.  War interrupted his life. Abdulrahman entered Jordan to escape the violence and horror in Syria as a refugee two years ago.  Alas, once he got to Jordan, he realized he was ineligible to finish high school.

Despite this setback, Abdulrahman remained focused and continued to study his school subjects independently for 2 years.  He began to consider other educational options and became captivated by the idea of studying in the United States.  With America on his mind, he enrolled in several English courses at the U.S. Embassy’s American Language Center in Amman and was so motivated to learn English that he could speak proficiently in less than a year.

Thanks to his newly acquired English skills, Abdulrahman was able to apply to two wonderful universities in the United States and was accepted by both!
