Send Zula to a Summer Institute in Sweden

Hello there!

My name is Zula and I am ecstatic to have been accepted into a summer program at the University of Stockholm in Sweden. This program spans six weeks and will provide me with an incredible opportunity to deepen my understanding of topics related to my senior comprehensive project. Unfortunately, I am facing a significant financial obstacle that may hinder my ability to participate in the program.

During my time in Sweden, I will be enrolled in two courses: Comparative Economics: Global Risk and European Responses as well as Storytelling through Photography. The main focus of my time there will be dedicated to my senior comprehensive project, which aims to compare and contrast work-family reconciliation policy in the United States and Sweden, and how it may have impacted market stability during the Covid-19 Pandemic. To gain a comprehensive understanding, I plan to conduct oral interviews with employees and parents at various child care facilities to hear their perspectives. During my time in Sweden, I will travel across the country and interact with individuals from different socio-economic backgrounds in order to hear the full story.

The tuition fees for the program alone amount to $5,140, which is beyond what I can afford. Additionally, I have to consider the cost of travel, housing, and food expenses, which will increase the cost even further. While I have been able to source funding from scholarships, my school, and DIS to help with tuition, I still need to cover general costs such as travel and food, which come to $2,650.
