Send Young NOLA Writers of Color to Puerto Rico
Donation protected
This summer, Four 826 New Orleans High School students were nominated and accepted to attend the International Congress of Youth Voices (ICYV) Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico to meet and work with other talented, young internationally-recognized writers and activists. They will get the opportunity to network and collaborate with other talented young minds from all over the world. Being able to attend a conference like this in High School is a once in a lifetime opportunity. They will be there for 5 days!
ICYV is paying for hotels, food and partial plane tickets; however, the students and one chaperone, Akilah, Torey, Isaiah, A’Lyric, and Kelsey need a way to get there and back and that’s where you and the community comes in to help fund their plane tickets there and back!
The International Congress of Youth Voices was founded by Writers Dave Eggers and Amanda Uhle who gathered over 100 youth delegates with a passion for art and social justice. Last year, student delegates got the opportunity to meet congressman John Lewis, and writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
