Send Young Manitoba Soccer Champions to Nationals
Donation protected
The Phoenix FC U15 Boys Soccer team dreamed of winning the MSA Cup for years. But more than just dreaming, they worked hard through every season, showing astounding commitment to an intense year-round training program and an incredible resiliency in overcoming obstacles. We knew their efforts and dedication were paying off earlier this year when First Touch Football (FTF) Canada rated them as one of the Top 10 U15 teams in the country.
On July 27, they proved themselves worthy of FTF Canada’s recognition when they achieved their goal of being victorious in the MSA Cup, Manitoba’s provincial championship. It’s more than just a champion title though. It also means this team now has an opportunity to represent Manitoba at the Nationals in Ontario this fall.
Travelling with a team for a championship tournament comes with a hefty price tag, and in today’s tough economy, it’s a hard bill to pay for many families. Even the costs of registering for a sport can be high, which is why so many youth aren’t given these opportunities. And yet, we know sport offers so many benefits to youth. As a start, it gives them a positive focus and helps to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.
When our Phoenix FC U15 Boys play soccer together, they are also developing real world skills that will benefit them – and the larger community – for years to come. They’re gaining skills in leadership, teamwork, discipline, and so much more. We have seen such incredible potential and maturity in the way the boys have responded to adversity and conflict both on the field and off. They rally around each other through triumph and tragedy, proving that family is bigger than just the people at home.
Now the Phoenix FC U15 Boys are asking for YOUR SUPPORT to get them to Nationals. It’s possible this will be a path for some of them to play university soccer or maybe even in professional leagues. They may be members of Team Canada in the next Olympics. But others will stay here in Winnipeg and pursue different goals, always remembering the support they received, which will turn them into community builders themselves.
Please consider making a donation to help these Manitoba boys achieve their next dream of representing Manitoba on the pitch at the 2024 U15 Toyota National Championship in Quinte West, Ontario!
