My name is Violet Delaney.
I am a competitive rock climber. I have been climbing for 3-4 years.
I am on Team Stone Summit. I’ve been competing for two years. I mostly climb indoors. I go to practice 2 times a week. At practice I climb for three hours and my coaches work with my teammates and me.
My favorite kind of rock climbing is bouldering. Bouldering is a type of climbing where you don’t use a rope and the wall ends about 15 ft. high. When you fall, you fall onto soft mats. So that is what climbing is.
Now the reason that I have this fundraiser is because I am going to a national championship in Utah on February 9. I will be there between 1 and 3 days depending on how well I do. This year I came in first place in two competitions and second place in another one. Then I went to regionals where I won the silver medal which meant I got to go to divisionals. At divisionals there were the 20 best climbers from 7 states. I came in 3rd on the first day and 4th on the second day and the top 6 get invited to nationals. This will be my first time.
I am proud to represent Atlanta, Georgia, Evansdale, UUCA, and Stone Summit at the national championships.
It will be streaming on YouTube and you can watch and root for me. I will post the link once I have it. I will also post pictures to Instagram.
My dad figured it out and it will cost us $2500 for plane tickets, the hotel, and registration for the competition. If you support me I will be making prizes and gifts for people.
