We're so lucky to have been nominated in multiple categories by the HOLA Awards, and we're raising money to send the team to the award show!
My name is Matt Barbot, the playwright behind the beautiful land i seek (la linda tierra que busco yo), which had its World Premiere last December at the historic Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, co-produced by Pregones/PRTT , Latinx Playwrights Circle , and Fault Line Theatre.
The show met with cricitical acclaim, industry coverage , and a successful run. It was nominated for Spain's Premios Talía, in the category Mejor espectáculo de artes escénicas de autoría hispana en Nueva York.
Now, the play has been nominated in four categories of this year's HOLA Awards:
- Gilberto Zaldívar Award for Outstanding Production
- Outstanding Achievement in Playwriting
- Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast
- Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor
Unfortunately for us, tickets to the show aren't cheap, ranging from $250 - $1000 each.
Since the $250 level tickets carry the warning "NOTE: Ceremony stage is not visible while seated; guests may stand to watch from the railing," our goal is to buy three (3) tickets at the $400 level for our nominated ensemble ($1200), as well as additional funds for the tickets of playwright Matt Barbot and Fault Line Theatre Artistic Director Aaron Rossini ($300).
Any additional funds raised will go towards Fault Line Theatre's Irons in the Fire and (plays) In Previews new play development programs, where the beautiful land i seek (la linda tierra que busco yo) first found its footing.
Thank you so much to everyone, and we look forward to the awards!
