Hi! My name is Tzivia Appleman, and I am currently a senior at HANC High School. I plan on spending next year (2017-2018) in a seminary in Israel. Unfortunately, my family doesn't have the resources to afford this opportunity. It would mean so much to me and my family if you could contribute, even just a little bit, to help me fulfill my dream. But first, let me tell you a little bit about why I want to go so badly:
This is my choice. No one is forcing me to go. I've been blessed to live in an environment where I have so much freedom to make choices, and this is a very personal decision.
Now, you may be wondering, why do I want to go to seminary? Excellent question!
I've grown up in a Modern-Orthodox society my entire life, with the most incredible family, school, friends, and youth groups, which have all helped me develop into the Jewish woman I am today. NCSY especially has helped me become proud of who I am as a Jew, and I really wouldn't be me without the incredible advisors, friends, and environment given by New York NCSY.
They have all taught me the values of Torah, Chesed, unity, kiruv, nationhood, love, intelligence, and kindness. Now it's my time to actualize these deeply-rooted concepts into my life, by spending a year in the land most dear to me, Eretz Yisrael.
My year in seminary will be my final year of a formal Jewish education. However, it is most certainly not my last year of Jewish learning. In Israel, I want to challenge my learning abilities, strengthen my Jewish identity, and of course, deepen my connections to G-d, Israel, and the Jewish nation.
Thank you so much for reading this, and I hope you consider helping a girl out. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a tremendous impact on my life, and for the generations that will succeed me.
