“In a world of war and conflict, where all hope is lost, the chaos of years past gives birth to a new order. Forged in the flames of battle, the pain of abandoned memories calls on all to rise up and meet their fates while wearing stylish headwear.”
108 long, torturous, gruelling, embarrassing years since the Cubs last won the World Series, and 71 years since they even won a pennant. And now, in the year 2016 they have a chance to rise up and fulfil their destiny! Born of the cloth worn by those heroes of 1908, Tim’s hat has a dream. It longs to be reunited in the land of its forefathers and to walk through the hallowed halls where the stuff of legend dwells. Such are the lofty goals of a well-loved hat that could use a wash. The pull of destiny draws it from atop his silvery hair, calling to it, like Taco Bell calls to us after a long night at the pub. United in common purpose, these stalwart companions are rarely seen apart, and yet the gravity of events is calling Tim’s hat home, like ET or that dog in Homeward Bound. Should these two be torn asunder it has been implied that earth shattering consequences could result. One should never joke about an apocalypse, but we heard that it could happen from a guy. He only does the best apocalypses’ so you should probably believe. But let’s just leave that there for now and talk about what you CAN do…
This is less a story about buying tickets to the World Series and more a story of friendship and dedication. It is the tale of a hat and its faithful companion who takes it with him wherever he may roam. Such dedication and commitment to an inanimate object is rarely seen in our times, which is why it is imperative that we band together to help send Tim’s hat home! Now logistically the hat is lacking certain requirements in order to make such a long and arduous journey. Opposable thumbs, a driving license, cash, sentience, and the hurdles continue to be thrown in its way. Fortunately the hat was born an AmeriCAN not an AmeriCAN’T, and so unlike other tales which toy with the possibility of failure before even beginning, this story has a fortunate ally in Tim McMahon. Dedicated friend and companion to the hat, he has graciously volunteered his limited free time to help make the hat’s dream a reality. In an effort to “take one for the team”, this man who has dedicated so much of his life to the pursuit of knowledge and to lifting up others has once again shown his true quality by buying the hat its ticket to the event of its lifetime.
Such dedication and sacrifice cannot go unacknowledged in these trying times! A man of limited means digs deep and makes himself a little less financially secure, sacrificing so that a dear friend can have the adventure of their lifetime. Such is the stuff of legend friends, and when they talk of these days do you not want to be on the side of what is right and good? So please join us in sending Tim’s hat to the World Series. Give back to the hat that has been there while knowledge was dropped on you, friendships were forged, and that helps to craft wordles like there is no tomorrow.
Now to all you naysayers who would like to believe that it would just be cheaper to ship the hat to Wrigley Field I ask, who will care for it once it arrives? Who will lovingly bathe it in head sweat and provide it with the adoration it deserves? Only one man, Tim McMahon is up to the challenge, so please get on board with this and stop making excuses. In a world torn apart by divisiveness and chaos, take a moment to give back to one who has done so much to enrich your life, Tim’s hat.
