Send Thomas Major to Arts Ed

Thomas Major is a talented 19-year-old from Gorleston-On-Sea. After a difficult year of online auditions and re-calls, he has been lucky enough to be offered a place at the acclaimed drama school, Arts Ed in London.

With an acceptance rate of 22% it is a notoriously difficult drama school to get into; with only 50 places available out of thousands of applications submitted. Any support would be greatly appreciated to help make his dreams come true to access training that is vital to his future career within the performing arts industry.

Since a young age, Thomas has always had a passion for Musical Theatre. With his older sister Lauren performing from a young age along with countless theatre trips, he always knew that this was his desired profession.

Thomas attended Homefield Primary School, Woodlands Middle School and Lynn Grove High School; and would always be the first to want to take part in any concert or musical performance. He also performed with local theatre groups in the area, including The Lowestoft Players, B&B Theatre Company & Dusmagrik where he has played numerous roles such as Marius in Les Miserables, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors and the title role in Oliver!

Upon finishing his GCSE’s Thomas attended East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston. He obtained his A Level’s and then spent a further year at D16 focusing solely on performing arts. Thomas has always worked incredibly hard to ensure he is the best he can possibly be, he has put all of his energy into preparing himself for what he has always wanted; to attend one of the top drama schools in London.

Although the past year has presented a completely different experience when it comes to auditioning; this by no means made it any easier. After multiple recalls, self-tapes and interviews, Thomas was lucky enough to be offered places at FOUR London drama schools; Arts Ed, Mountview, Italia Conti & Emil Dale – a testament to the sheer amount of dedication and hard work he put in.

Whilst the decision was still a difficult one, Arts Ed had always been the school that Thomas wanted to attend. Based in Chiswick, Arts Ed has been ranked in the top five drama schools for student satisfaction for three years running. Gaining entry is all about potential and passion, they have an outstanding record of graduate success which sees nearly every one of their Musical Theatre graduates make their professional debuts within six

months of graduating.

Luckily, Thomas is eligible for student finance and is continuing to work hard and save so tuition fees are almost covered. Any additional money that we can raise through this will help with covering the remaining fees and additional costs. This financial barrier is a huge hurdle due to the cost of living and training in London. Raising this money would alleviate some of the financial worries; nobody wants money to be a barrier to education. Nobody wants the acting industry to be a private space for those who can afford it. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, those things are true. But we won't let that stop Thomas from trying to fulfil his dreams.

We know COVID has made things hard for everyone, but every single donation is appreciated. Any amount is greatly appreciated and if you have any questions at all, feel free to get in touch, we promise to keep you all updated on his journey to show you what your money is going towards.

Thank you for your support, every donation is a penny closer to reaching our goal.

Whatever you can do, whatever you can spare to help, please help us send Thomas to Arts Ed.

Thank you for your support x
