As the vice-president of our university's boxing club and a returning national champion, I've had the incredible privilege of leading a team of passionate and dedicated athletes on an unforgettable journey. Hailing from Houston, TX, we're gearing up for the 2024 USIBA National Tournament with a team of 25 UW boxers. It's a journey filled with excitement, determination, and a touch of nervous anticipation. What makes our story unique is that we're entirely self-funded; every expense, from travel to accommodation, comes straight out of our own pockets as we receive no funding from the university.

But despite the financial hurdles, our spirits are high and our goals are clear. We're not just aiming to defend our individual national titles; this year, we're setting our sights on something even bigger - winning the team championship. The camaraderie within our team is palpable as we push each other to new heights, both in the ring and in our personal lives. We train tirelessly, supporting one another through victories and setbacks alike.

As we embark on this journey, we carry with us the dreams of our teammates, the unwavering support of our coaches, and the pride of representing our university on a national stage. With determination in our hearts and gloves on our fists, we're ready to step into the ring and show the world what we're made of. Together, we're not just a team; we're a family, united by our love for the sport and our shared goal of bringing home not only individual titles but the coveted team championship trophy.
