SEND the John Adams High School Marching Band TO THE STATE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS!

For only the third time in our history, the John Adams High School Marching Band has qualified for the STATE FINALS in our competition class!

Our 110 person band and color guard has been working for months to perfect our show. They've worked tirelessly from three full weeks of band camp in the summer through class time, zero hour and evening (7am and 5-7:30pm!) practices, full weekend days, home football games, and private lessons, and their work has been recognized as among the best in class. This is a huge achievement where much of their competition comes from far better resourced programs.

It is not uncommon for band fees at local high schools to reach $500-1000 per student. This band serves a school where the majority of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch and welcomes students regardless of the ability to pay. To serve our students, we keep our fees at just a fraction of other programs and make up the difference by fundraising with incredible family volunteers. We cover the costs of any student in need. Our band directors continually pull rabbits out of hats to make magic happen, operating with extremely lean personnel and no extra space in our budget.

The achievement of the band's goal to make the state finals also means a new and unexpected cost related to travel to and from the state finals, food, and lodging, as well as additional band/music staff time for a season now stretching an additional few weeks with ramped up needs for practice and music lessons.

These kids have earned a place among the best bands in the state, and we want to give them every opportunity to be there and enjoy every minute.
