Send The Holroyd's to Disney

Hello everyone!

So many kind, lovely people have asked how they can help or do something nice to support the Holroyd family. So we have decided to set up a GoFundMe for Hayley, Dan and the boys to send them to Disney World!

Hayley is a brave soul who has been on an incredibly challenging journey since discovering a tiny lump in August 2022. Despite being initially told she was too young for a mammogram, Hayley fought for further evaluation and was referred for tests.

On a fateful Saturday, just 13 days later, Hayley received the devastating news - the 'tiny lump' concealed a much larger tumour. On September 8th, the day before her 40th birthday, she was diagnosed with HER2+ and triple-negative cancer in two masses. Since then, she has faced each hurdle with unwavering strength.

Hayley began her first of nine gruelling rounds of chemotherapy on October 5th, enduring the harsh side effects with determination. She lost her hair, but gained a new sense of resilience, choosing to have her head shaved on November 23rd.

Surgery on March 27th involved the removal of her entire left-side lymph nodes, full lumpectomy and mammoplasty on both breasts as the cancer had spread.

Despite her valiant efforts, three lymph nodes still harboured cancer cells post-chemotherapy, necessitating further treatment. In June, she recommenced chemotherapy, but suffered an allergic reaction. July marked the commencement of five years of tamoxifen tablets, along with an arduous 19-day stretch of radiotherapy.

August and September brought rounds two and three of a new, potentially lifesaving chemotherapy. However, Hayley faced more allergic reactions and was informed that a fourth round could be fatal. She then commenced a treatment pathway called Phesgo immunotherapy and is coping really well. September saw Hayley return to work on a part-time timetable. All those who know Hayley know that this was such a joy for her.

The emotional and financial toll has been immense, leaving a profound impact on Hayley and her family. Throughout this arduous journey, Hayley has remained the pillar of strength for those around her. Her caring and selfless nature has always put others first, even in the face of her own battle. They are so thankful to everyone who has helped them in anyway. The many lifts to hospital, meals and general loveliness of everyone around them has helped endlessly.

We are coming together to raise funds for something that will bring joy and create cherished memories for Hayley and her family. We aim to help them financially towards the cost of traveling to Disney World, a place where they can momentarily escape the weight of cancer and revel in the magic of togetherness.
