Help the Calumet CopperBots Compete on the World Stage

This past weekend, the Calumet CopperBots, Calumet High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, had an incredible competition at the Michigan State Robotics Championship held at Saginaw Valley State University.

After a strong showing in qualification matches, the CopperBots were selected to the #1 alliance alongside powerhouse teams Stryke Force (Kalamazoo, MI) and the Wayland Wildcats (Wayland, MI). Together, this alliance dominated the elimination rounds—winning every match and earning the title of division champions. The CopperBots went on to compete for the Michigan State Championship and finished as semifinalists.

Because of this incredible performance, the CopperBots have qualified for the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas, where they will compete against 600 of the top robotics teams from across the United States and more than 30 countries.

For a small, student-led team like ours, this is an extraordinary accomplishment. Many of the teams we will face have over 100 members and extensive professional mentorship. In contrast, the CopperBots are powered by a tight-knit group of dedicated students, driven by passion, creativity, and determination.

Now, we need your help.

The cost to attend the World Championship—including registration fees, transportation, and lodging—exceeds $15,000. Our team operates on a very limited budget. Students and families make sacrifices to keep costs down, including transporting the robot and equipment themselves and maximizing space in shared hotel rooms.

Our community has already shown incredible support in helping us reach this point, and we are deeply grateful. Now, we’re asking for your help once more—to give these hardworking students the opportunity to compete on the world stage.

This is more than a competition. It’s a chance for these young engineers to represent Calumet, to test their skills against the best in the world, and to show that our small community produces students of the highest caliber.

Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to Houston.

Thank you for believing in the Calumet CopperBots.
