The USA Urban Golf Team is sending 6 individuals to Winterthur, Switzerland, to compete internationally at the World Urban Golf Cup in August '26.

Team USA sent 2 golfers, Flip McGuire and Aaron Koch, to compete in the WUGC in Košice, Slovakia, in '24. This year, we are looking at bringing a bigger team.

What is Urban Golf? Simply put, real clubs with foam balls being played in the streets or any unconventional location. Urban golf is meant to give access to the sport to those who might not have the financial means or otherwise.

As we understand, competitive urban golf emerged from Europe in the '90s and began to grow. In the late '90s and early 2000s, Scott Mazaringos saw this happening in Europe and brought the idea to the States and held meet-ups for years in Portland, Oregon.

Roughly 20 years later, Max and Drew Reinland of MuniKids Golf started a weekly urban golf meet-up in Portland that continues to build interest in the sport, locally and nationally, to this day. That is pretty much how every team member got their start at street golf.

As you can imagine, participating in international sports can be quite costly. Although we are seeking sponsorship, currently all costs are out of pocket.
