Help send Tatami mats & Judo Gi's to my new Dojo in Samoa
Donation protected

Talofa,
I am currently building a Dojo for judo and martial arts in Samoa, and I have received 60 tatami mats and over 40 judo gi's donated from a Non Profit Organization in Japan. A friend has very generously offered to pay ¥300,000 to help with the shipping but I am still short of around US$3000 (the shipment is ¥724,178 total for 9.9m3). Any donation would be greatly appreciated in making this dream Dojo a reality.
My name is Peniamina Percival and I am an Olympic judo athlete, having represented Samoa at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and aiming for the LA Olympics in 2028. I am also an IOC Young Leader for 2023-2026. As an IOC Young Leader, I have a project to use judo and self-defense to help address two major issues in Samoa:
- An entrenched culture of violence: bullying, domestic, gender-based, aggression, etc.
- Non Communicable Diseases and health issues
I believe that my Dojo will not only help pave the way for future judo champions, but also will give confidence and defensive skill sets to victims of violence, as well as making people healthier.
The building for the Dojo is expected to be completed in October. I will also have an outreach program taking tatami mats into villages and schools to run workshops.
Please feel free to reach out to me for any further inquiries.
