My name is Sydney, and I am so excited to be selected as a New York State finalist for Miss New York USA! I can't wait to compete, but I will need your help to get there.
The money goes toward funding pageant weekend, as well as supplying scholarship funds for finalists. Should I win, the prize money will be going towards paying for law school and LSAT prep.
My pageant platform consists of two parts that relate to me very personally. First, I want to help destigmatize mental illness and support those who struggle with it. As someone who has struggled with her own mental health, this issue is especially important to me. Second, I am looking to use this opportunity to kickstart programs that will inspire young female athletes to continue to pursue their dreams in the world of sports, as well as programs that will support women who work in this field. I have been surrounded by sports my entire life, from being a former athlete, to having athletic sisters, I know how positive a role sports can play in a young woman's life. Sports help create strong leaders, supportive teammates, and dedicated individuals, so I hope to inspire young women to continue to achieve their goals through athletics.
