Send Students to the Holocaust Museum

Donation protected
Each year, I organize trips for middle and high school students from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and southern Delaware to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. This effort reaches about 30 schools in each region, and the interest continues to grow—this year alone, I’ve received requests from around 60 different schools. The primary barrier for most of these schools is the cost of private bus transportation, as museum admission is typically free for groups. In some cases, I’ve also provided meal money to ensure every student can participate fully.

I use my personal funds for many of these trips, but the demand to be included as a school being funded for the Museum field trip has grown so large, I can no longer handle it myself. I will continue to use a substantial amount of personal funds for these trips. I am asking that you become my partner in providing funds for this meaningful endeavor.

My motivation for organizing these trips is deeply personal. My father and his parents, along with much of his side of our family, survived the Holocaust. Most of our relatives made it through and found a new home in America, but we know of at least six family members who did not survive. Sharing this history is not just about remembering the past—it’s about helping students understand the dangers of hatred and the importance of standing up against it. The vast majority of these students have never met someone who is Jewish, and these trips offer a unique opportunity to learn about Judaism and the Jewish people.

Before each trip, I visit the participating schools to share my family’s story and present slides of our extended family. This personal connection helps students see the Holocaust as more than just history in a textbook or photos on a museum wall. The feedback from schools has been overwhelmingly positive, and with your support, we can ensure that even more students have the chance to learn these vital lessons and carry them forward into their communities.
