Hi y’all!

My name is Stella Guardado, and I’m an 18-year-old girl from the small city of Temple, TX. I’m about to become a first-generation college student at Smith College this fall! I’ve lived in Temple my whole life, and for the first time ever, I have the chance to live somewhere new — nearly 2,000 miles away in Massachusetts. While both my family and I are beyond excited for this next chapter, the costs of getting there are creating a financial strain we weren’t fully prepared for.

Neither of my parents nor grandparents had the opportunity to attend a four-year college. For a long time, college felt like a distant, unachievable dream because of how expensive it is. But through Smith’s incredible generosity, I’ve received a scholarship that will allow me to attend debt-free. It’s a blessing from God — one I’m incredibly grateful for — and I’m almost there. With a little help, I can take this final step and begin my journey.
