Send Stearne School 3rd Graders to Dogman: The Musical!
Donation protected
Hi! I will not be sharing this with strangers, so all of you already know me!
...but just in case you share it with friends... :)
I teach at a tiny public school in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, Allen M. Stearne School, where 100% of the students are below the poverty line and we have a large immigrant population. Joys like field trips to museums and theaters are a true luxury, and not at all a given. My school works very hard to give the students these opportunities, but, even when trips are available, a lot of times the families struggle to pay the fees for their child(ren) to attend.
Wilma Theater contacted teachers to let them know they would be holding blocks of tickets for schools to attend DOGMAN: THE MUSICAL in late September-early October. If you have kids (or have even ever talked to kids) you'll know how Dogman is *the greatest series ever*. It entices even the most reluctant readers to pick up a book and read! I would love to be able take my upcoming 3rd grade class to experience this live show.
I am fundraising for the cost of a ticket for each student in my class plus a bus rental for the day. My grade partner is doing the same for her homeroom in hopes we can take our whole 3rd grade on this amazing trip. Any monies left over (there shouldn't be, but just in case) will go to my students towards the cost of trips offered by my school as attendance incentives.
I do not like to ask for money, but these kids are worth me putting on my "help me!" hat. There is nothing greater than seeing a kid experience an event like this for the first time, I promise you. Thank you!
